San Francisco is a great place to ride a bike. But being out on the road with drivers who don’t pay attention to you — and without the benefit of seatbelts or airbags — makes bicycling a dangerous mode of transportation. A minor unsafe road condition that wouldn’t even be noticed by someone driving a car could be extremely dangerous for a bicyclist. And just like drivers of other types of vehicles, you may be unaware that your bike has some type of defect that makes you at risk of injury.
Injuries sustained by a bicyclist in a collision with a motorized vehicle are often severe. And they are not always immediately apparent.
